Types of Warts?

Genital Warts – Genital warts are an infection of the genital and anal area’s skin, including the vulva, vagina, cervix, rectum, anus, penis, or scrotum. Genital Warts appear as small flesh-colored bumps. These bumps can appear alone or in large clusters. Genital warts are caused by certain types of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and are spread by skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner.

Common Warts – Common warts are flesh-colored. They may appear as small raised spots on the skin with a rough surface. The wart’s size varies and may appear anywhere on the body, especially the fingers, hands, palms, elbows, knees, legs, and face. They may be called “seed” warts because blood vessels in the wart look like black dots or “seeds.”

Plantar Warts – Plantar warts develop exclusively on the sole. They can be painful and cause difficulty in walking. They may occur in a pattern, grouped closely together.

Flat Warts – Flat warts are most common among teenagers and children. They are often small, with a pinhead size, and 100 flat warts can cluster up together. They usually appear on the face but can also appear on arms, knees, or hands.

Periungual Warts – Periungual warts appear under or near toenails and fingernails. They start small, about the size of a pinhead but can grow larger and affect nail growth.

Filiform Warts – Filiform warts or facial warts are long, narrow flesh-colored growths that can appear alone or in clusters. They appear around the eyelids, face, neck, or lips. * Dr. Nassir’s office is equipped to exam women for external and internal genital warts with vinegar or pap smear testing. * Female Chapter One Medical Assistance available for your comfort and privacy.
